Hugo Richardson

_ABOUT

I am an innovator, driven to make a positive impact to society. As Co-founder and CTO, of an award winning cleantech startup, I developed our technology from moonshot to reality. Raising over £3 million and securing partnerships with automotive industry leaders Rivian and Volvo. I thrive when faced with a challenge. My roots in engineering and passion for design are constantly colliding, leading me to take an interdisciplinary approach to the complex and nuanced challenges we face.

_SKILLS

Innovation - As a patented inventor I find opportunity at the forefront of innovation, where complexity and uncertainty drive discovery. I problem solve through experimentation - I iterate, fail fast and learn. I conduct stakeholder interviews to garner insights and deep dive exploratory research to establish a robust foundation in prior art. I am able to quickly grasp new complex technical topics and translate it into precise, actionable insights for the team.

Manufacturing - I prototype quickly with a wide variety tools, physical and digital, to output anything from a one off prototype to mass manufactured product at scale. I take a multi-phased approach to de-risk, combining engineering analytical modelling with real world experimental results. I have led cross-domain IoT product development (hardware, firmware & cloud) while managing a technical team of 6 FTEs, delivering concurrent work streams on time and on-budget

3D CAD Proficiency - AutoCAD, Siemens NX, SolidWorks

FEA & Analytical Modelling - MATLAB, ANSYS

GD&T - Engineering drawings & tolerance stacks

DFM / DFA - Design optimised for injection moulding and assembly

Material Selection - Knowledge of plastics, metals, and composites

Risk Analysis & Mitigation - FMEA, DFMEA, Root Cause Analysis

Product Lifecycle Management - Ideation through design, validation, manufacturing, and post-market support

Compliance & Certification - EMC testing | IP rating | Automotive compliance & CAN integration
